“I’m not out of shape – game speed is a little different than running gassers, so I’m super excited to be out there,” Martin said. “I’m looking forward to taking advantage of my fresh legs and hopefully make a difference.”

Obviously, Martin’s stint on the sidelines – he was injured in the third preseason game against the Giants – lasted longer than average for a concussion. Martin said he had “lingering symptoms” and wanted to be careful about his return and listen to his body.

There was no update on Maye, but the fact that he was able to do some work in practice for the second straight day is obviously encouraging.

Bowles also said Maye’s conditioning is currently further along than Martin’s; Maye was able to do some conditioning work while injured, but Martin was unable to do any activity for a long stretch while in the concussion protocol.

As the Jets prepare for their week four showdown with the Jaguars, the team is at a crossroads.

New York should be 3-0, according to the Jaguars coach Doug Marrone. The team has looked as good as predicted defensively, but offensively there’s been some disappointment. The Jets have been very careful with Sam Darnold and have failed to get their skill players going.

With the team on a two-game losing streak, here’s what the Jets should be worried about as they prepare for their showdown with the Jaguars. It only takes one look at the stat sheet to see that Jets defensive end Leonard Williams is off to a slow start this season.

Williams has yet to record a sack and has just two quarterback hits, despite making offseason adjustments in order to get to the quarterback more often.

But Williams has a golden chance to turn things around this week when the Jets face the Jaguars in Jacksonville on Sunday.Check out our thoughts on Williams and his matchup in the video above.

If handing the Browns their first win since 2016 wasn’t bad enough, the Jets now have to follow up their poor performance on the road in Jacksonville. Seeing how the Jaguars are coming off their first loss of the year, the odds are in their favor as they prepare to defend home turf.

From top to bottom, the Jaguars are one of the NFL’s most complete teams. With little to no holes on their roster, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that they’d be favorites in any home game this season.

That in mind, the Jets are far from the league’s most complete. New York is plagued with questions at several positions on both sides of the football. For that reason, the odds peg them as underdogs at a +310 money-line, per OddsShark.

The best money-line for Jacksonville casts them as clear favorites at -370. With the over/under sitting at 38 points, the Jaguars will have to cover a 7.5-point spread.

In a turn of events, Jacksonville dropped Sunday’s home matchup with the Tennessee Titans by a narrow margin. Decided by a field goal, the game saw a final score of 9-6.

There is some hope for the Jets. Star running back Leonard Fournette has yet to return from injury and the Jaguars’ receiving core has as some concerns. On defense, however, the opposition boasts some of the best corners and pass-rushers in the game.

If New York hopes to defy the odds on Sunday, they’ll likely have to take a page from the Titans’ book and keep the score low.
